Priority Worker Groups Qualifying for BE-1 Visas
Three groups of priority workers in the U.S. qualify for EB-1 visas:
- Outstanding professors and researchers: The applicant must be internationally recognized as outstanding in an academic area. He or she must have at least three years of teaching or researching in that area and must be entering the U.S. in a position with an institution of higher learning, or at a private company with documented accomplishments in an academic field
- Persons of extraordinary ability: An applicant must demonstrate that he or she has "extraordinary ability in the sciences, art, education, business or athletics, which has been demonstrated by sustained national or international acclaim and whose achievements have been recognized in the field through extensive documentation."
- Multinational executives and managers: If an applicant is an executive or manager of a multinational corporation, he or she may be eligible for permanent residency as a priority worker. The applicant must be entering the U.S. to work in a managerial or executive capacity and must have worked abroad in the same capacity for the same company for at least one year prior.
