Applying for asylum

Applying for asylum is complicated by issues such as your current immigration status, whether you are in deportation/removal proceedings, or whether you have previously had an asylum application denied. However, every applicant for asylum must complete form I-589, Application for Asylum. Our attorneys will help you complete the application.

The asylum interview

We also will help you prepare for the asylum interview, which occurs after you have been fingerprinted and not more than 43 days after the filing date on your application. If you live a long distance from one of the eight asylum offices, the timetable may be adjusted to allow the asylum officer time to travel to a location closer to you. We will attend the interview with you, as the law allows.
