Today, the Secretary of Homeland Security, Jeh Johnson, announced Temporary
Protected Status designation for natives and citizens of Nepal resulting
from the devastating earthquake that struck April 25, 2015. Under TPS,
citizens of Nepal will not be removed from the United States and are authorized
to work and obtain Employment Authorization. As announced, the TPS designation
will be valid for a period of 18 months.
Applicants may begin applying today, June 24, 2015 and must establish that
they have been "continuously physically present" and "continuously
residing" in the United States. Applicants will also need to undergo
